How do I top up my eSIM?

If you already have an active Orange Travel eSIM and need more data, you can purchase a top-up directly from the Orange Travel app.
However, top-ups work differently from purchasing a new eSIM. Please read the information below before purchasing a top-up.

When does my top-up start?

A top-up is applied immediately to your active eSIM when the purchase is completed.
Unlike a new eSIM plan, a top-up does not remain inactive until you choose to activate it.
This means that if you purchase a top-up while your current plan still has remaining validity, the top-up will be applied immediately.
What happens to the validity of my current plan?

The data is cumulative, but the validity periods are not.

For example:

  • Your current plan has 400 GB and 11 days remaining
  • You purchase a 31-day top-up
  • The additional data is added to your available data balance
  • The 31-day top-up becomes the applicable validity period
  • The remaining 11 days of your previous plan are not added to the 31 days

The validity periods do not stack.
:danger: Important: A top-up does not extend your existing plan
If you still have several days remaining on your current plan, we recommend waiting until your plan is used or close to expiring before purchasing a top-up.

Do not purchase a top-up expecting the new 31 days to begin after your current plan expires.
A top-up is not an extension that starts later. It is applied immediately to your active eSIM.

Can I schedule a top-up to start later?
No. Top-ups cannot be scheduled for a future date.
They are automatically applied to your eSIM immediately after the purchase.
If you need your additional data for a later period, we recommend waiting until your current plan is close to expiring before purchasing the top-up.

What if I purchased a top-up by mistake?
Once a top-up has been successfully purchased and applied to your eSIM, the validity cannot be reversed or changed manually.
We cannot:

  • Restore the previous validity period
  • Add the unused days from your previous plan back
  • Move the top-up to a future date
  • Add the remaining days to the new top-up validity

Why does this work differently from a new eSIM?

A new eSIM plan can remain inactive until it is activated, depending on the plan and activation conditions.
A top-up is different because it is purchased for an eSIM that is already active. Therefore, the top-up is applied immediately rather than waiting for a future activation.

Example
Your current plan:
  • 400 GB
  • 11 days remaining
You purchase:
  • 31-day top-up
After the top-up:
  • Your available data includes the data from your existing plan and the top-up
  • The validity does not become 42 days
  • The 11 remaining days are not added to the 31-day top-up

For this reason, we strongly recommend purchasing a top-up only when your current plan is used up or close to expiring.
Good to know: Before purchasing a top-up, always check how many days remain on your current plan. A top-up is applied immediately and does not add its validity to the remaining days of your existing plan.
